We all know they're gonads. You mean like the 8-boobed woman in ROTJ? And even before that was added to the movie, there was a terrible 4 minute puppet musical number that served no purpose.

You just don't get it man that boob aliens was the most important character in the whole film! I get that the subplot provided Finn a lot of character development. I just wish it didn't feel like developing his character was the only reason that subplot existed at all. It also existed so Poe's reckless plan could fail. He committs mutiny to see it through and it essentially dooms hundreds of Resistance personnel since it allows the Empire to learn about the escape attempt.

Casino spil paa nettetal nwitimes archives of american and Rose didn't get the dude that they were explicitly instructed to get, through their own common-sense failure Rose more than Finn, he wouldn't know better of parking their POS speeder on a public beach in a very high-class area.

I mean, they wouldn't even be admitted into the casino with what they were wearing to begin with, but that's neither here nor there. Mercenary codebreakers aren't that uncommon. One that won't sell them out to the Empire First Order when the pressure's on aren't. They fucked up, grabbed some rando and oh well, he sold them out. Sure would have been nice if they'd recruited someone competent to go on the secret mission to recruit this vitally important individual.

Finn is nice and all, but being an ex-janitor Stormtrooper, neither he nor Rose had any clue of what they were doing. I would have replaced Rose with a world-weary veteran that could have presented the Canto situation in a much more cynical way that highlighted Finn's ignorance.

They could have served as a mentor in addition to moral compass, and sped up the pacing of the arc, to boot. Damn now that I think about it I would have much preferred that.

They could have been a Cassian Andor type that who had extreme dedication to the cause, which would have nicely contrasted DJ's message of only looking out for yourself while simultaneously being far more engaging than Rose's blind optimism. They could have also been mistrusting of Finn for being a FO stormtrooper, before gradually coming to mutually respect each other. Would have been a more rewarding relationship than the shit patter we got with the random shoe-horned romance at the end.

Yes, I don't think anybody missed that Finn's character developed. It just shouldn't have hinged on the hamfisted consequences of not following parking regulations. Everything that happens later is a consequence of this. Luke Skywalker is dead because of a parking violation.

The casino plot could have easily been saved with a better script.

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI (spoilers)

The broad strokes for TLJ are often just fine with me, it just totally fails in unnecessarily and inexplicably lazy, clumsy execution. Part of why the plan is foolish is because they sent two people with little experience as covert ops to do a covert ops mission.

So failing to blend in with something as minor as parking a ship fits with why sending fin to blend anywhere but inside the first order is foolish. There was no real covert work required though. The sole necessary skill was being able to park in a valid spot. Okay that's actually a good point some incompetency is expected. It still doesn't excuse Holdo's mistakes or redeem Finn and Rose for being idiots though. And also, no, I still think you can expect people with sub Navy Seal level training to follow parking regulations.

The entire sub plot should have been Finn and Po together, there was no need to introduce a new character when you already have two great characters with a believable relationship.

Would have been better to have those two infiltrating the First Order ship together, keeps the stories closer together with a more perceptible links.

I think the editing of the scene makes it feel like more were blown up than actually were. But editing time sensitive moments is always tricky in films. Not to mention less than a minute passes between Hux, in the base, being told to go find Kylo and the base blowing up. Star Wars has always had issues with scaling and timing of these things. They always make it seem like there is either more or less rebels, resistance fighters left than there are.

They always seemed to show only a couple survivors but then there is supposed to Warrior casino scene last jedi poster more than that. Last Jedi seemed to get those details a little extra wrong this time. Idk why this is but in every movie or tv show I watch when a character fucks up shit and makes the situation worse I tend to start disliking them. Also to develop Rose a bit, and show us the children. Star Wars isn't about chosen ones anymore.

Any kid with a shit Casino 365 could be the next hero.

The ending scene Rian choose cements that. But Rey is a chosen one. She is the most powerful Jedi only because the Force chose to make her equal to Kylo.

Well that entire subplot could have been avoided if Mrs Secret Plan had just told the crew what was going on. Imagine the movies from her perspective. Pretend we don't know who Poe is. Based on Holdo's introduction it's clear she's some badass who's done some important battle stuff;she doesn't know Poe but it's clear she has some experience and clearly looks up to Leia and has her trust.

So in the movie after she takes charge some hotheaded pilot comes in who just got a bunch of people killed and was demoted by LEIA she's sort of a big deal and demands to know his superior's plans. If we were viewing the movie from Holdo's perspective, why would we trust some random? She doesn't know him like the movie audience does.

If all we know of the guy is that he got people killed and was demoted by Leia of course we wouldn't trust him.

His job is to obey orders and he didn't do that. She doesn't owe him anything. From her perspective the logic is completely sound. We only think her choice is dumb because we know Poe is good and can trust him - because we know he's a main character and are viewing the movie from his perspective rather than hers.

For all she knows he's a spy - why should she go broadcasting her plan to everyone? Particularly someone LEIA demoted?

She doesn't have to tell him everything, only that she does in fact have a plan. Her crew, I assume courageous true believers themselves if they signed up to fight the First Order in the first place, was presently in the process of deserting the ship if not for Rose, you can't just let that stand and say nothing when people think they are facing certain death.

But maybe you should have a little more respect for the guy who wants to fight instead of abandon the cause like the others on the crew who were trying to desert. You mean, the commander of presumably all fighter squadrons? Your telling me she wouldn't know who that is? Poe doesn't recognise Holdo, if you remember.

He's heard of her, but he's surprised when he sees that this famous military commander is a slim woman with purple hair. Holdo says she knows who Poe is. That's why she knows that he was demoted by Leia.

She just knows that the future of the Rebellion should lie in the hands of level-headed strategists who look at the big picture, not arrogant pilots who look at everything through their cross hairs and do things such as losing an entire fleet of bombers on a mission. Poe is definitely technically and tactically brilliant, but often loses sight of the operational and strategic picture. You're not wrong here, but crucifying Poe for the Dreadnought attack is the wrong example.

Let's look at the facts: If they'd disengaged, they'd have taken casualties with no potential gain. The value and threat of their target is so high that it easily justifies the casualties incurred in the attack. A sober retrospective would also recognize if that attack hadn't succeeded, we wouldn't have the rest of The Last Jedi. The Dreadnought would've smashed the Resistance fleet into cinders during the extended chase. If we use this logic to look at what we've seen of Poe, that almost bodes worse for Holdo.

Poe was chosen to retrieve the map on Jakku. After being ambushed and tortured by Kylo Ren, he escapes without compromising the map. Then later in the movie, Poe is personally around the projection with Leia, Han, and Resistance leadership as they plan to destroy Starkiller Base.

Poe leads the charge of fighters on Starkiller and we see him personally destroy the interior of the thermal oscillator. He's a major Resistance hero who was present and a key part of the planning of their largest attack and also one of the core group responsible for its destruction. Meanwhile, Holdo was apparently absent for all of that. I don't buy the "she's important, she doesn't need to tell anyone.

Excluding that information is bad leadership on Holdo's part. Finn has already seen the cruelty of the empire firsthand.

He likely suffered at least as much in his childhood as the slave children in the casino. There are several times in The Force Awakens where they confirm that all of the First Order's stormtroopers were kidnapped as children and brainwashed.

So yeah, they're a slave army. Ah, but that's exactly it.
